Nearly all projects can be related to a point or region on the globe, and GIS (geographic information systems) is the ideal tool for efficient data integration and display. At WEBB, our GIS department uses ESRI technology to achieve our clients’ goals. GIS and internet technology is used to create dynamic, interactive data entry and retrieval across a variety of data types and departments.
We also take great pride in displaying our information in effective, graphically superior products. This means better communication and outreach capabilities for the client. Our web and graphic designers incorporate GIS products into customized web pages and web-based applications.
WEBB conducts interviews, reviews current systems, and designs a personalized plan for our client’s enterprise GIS system, including software/hardware, training, staffing, and maintenance requirements, and database design and integration. We also provide long term training and support.
Our Data Creation/Conversion capabilities include scanning and rectification from hardcopy documents; digitizing; conversion to and from CAD and other electronic data formats; data cleanup and QA/QC; and GPS/Survey data collection and integration with existing data. We create custom products in a variety of formats using Cartographic Products including web-based, interactive displays; GPS or mobile device background displays; large-format displays, reports and documents, PowerPoint projects, atlas maps; 3-D visualizations – displaying realistic views of buildings and landscaping, aerial fly-bys of a project or region, line of sight analyses, flow lines, cut and fill quantification; linking maps to documents (i.e As-built drawings); custom tools and programs tailored toward the clients’ goals.
Asset Management is key to knowing asset location and the ability to link via customized GIS applications to customer databases, work orders, financial data, projects, integration field operations (i.e. CCTV inspections) with addresses or assets. Assets are then displayed and analyzed in a geographically intelligent, integrated system. GIS also provides a decision support system as it integrates output data from other software (such as Infowater) models with existing data to quickly perform analyses of project alternatives.
GIS assists during the master planning process in the following ways. We provide analyses of your project with a wide variety of up-to-date datasets: 1ft. aerial imagery, parcels and centerlines, census data, landuse and zoning, soils, biological/habitat data, hydrology/hydrography, elevation models, and political boundaries. WEBB creates a web page for each project to allow efficient internal communication, share documents and maps, and allow public access and input as desired. We also provide a fully-integrated document via hardcopy, CD with linked tables, text and maps, or a customized web page as the final product.
The strength of our GIS department is full integration between multiple services. We work closely with project managers across all of our departments, integrating data from modeling and CAD drawings with GIS data for graphics, modeling, and analyses. In addition to two GIS Specialists, there are GIS experts in several other departments that specialize in GIS applications specific to their area of expertise.
